A Course on

CLEANROOM TESTING

Glasgow University

24-26th June 2008

This course leads to a CTCB certificate in ‘Cleanroom Testing’. It is run in Scotland by S2C2, in Ireland by the Irish Cleanroom Society, and in Sweden by the R3 Nordic Cleanroom Society. This course is an accredited course of the International Cleanroom Education Board (ICEB) set up by the International Confederation of Contamination Control Societies (ICCCS). The course also has an Advisory and Examination Board containing cleanroom testing experts who ensure the content of the course and exams are set at a high standard. Two qualifications are available: Professional and Associate.

Professional Certificate. This is for the professional tester whose day-to day occupation is testing cleanrooms, and will have at least 2 years’ experience at the time of examination.

Associate Certificate.  This is for those involved in cleanroom testing, such as facilities engineers, or quality assurance managers who must understand how cleanrooms should be correctly tested. Cleanroom testers in training may take the associate exam on their way to the Professional Certificate.

The two courses are organised as follows:  On registration, a set of notes (about 110 pages long) is sent to the candidate containing information on the following:

Also sent is a Questions and Answers Handbook, on which the student’s written exams are based. The course notes and QAs handbook must be studied so the student is knowledgeable enough to pass a written exam based on the notes and questions supplied. Students must then attend a course held at Glasgow University.  A 2 day course is for associate candidates, and 3 day is for professional candidates. The course is structured as follows:

Professional candidates will have to pass both practical and written exams and the associate candidates must only pass the written exam. Anyone failing an exam can re-sit it at the next examination. This can be in Sweden or Ireland.
