Wow, what a great ICCCS meeting in Phoenix! IEST hosted the 14th ICCCS Symposium on contamination control along with the IEST Annual Technical Meeting from April 27 to May 1. The attendance was outstanding with over 1200 technical program registrants and between 3000 and 4000 in total participation including working group and trade show attendees. About one-half of those attendees were from the contamination control disciplines.
The strong technical program was supplemented by several tutorials that covered various contamination control topics. An interesting note is that the largest attendance was for the Fundamentals Tutorials which are aimed at entry level professionals. I think that this is a very good sign for the contamination control profession. Many people appear to be entering the field or at least learning the contamination control basics as a supplement to their knowledge base.
The next ICCCS Symposium will be hosted by the R3-Nordic Society in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Symposium will take place from 13-19 May 2000. Mark your advance planning calendars now!
I turned over the ICCCS chairmanship to Matts Ramstorp of R3-Nordic at our Board meeting in Phoenix. I wish Matt and R3 a great two years and a very successful 15th ICCCS Symposium. I also want to thank all of the people, many from S2C2, that have made my work with the ICCCS very enjoyable.
Best Wishes
