Dear Colleague,
The Brazilian Society of Contamination Control - SBCC - with its base in São Paulo, has been very active during the last twelve months. We organised four technical seminars; Introduction to Cleanroom Technology, Design and Construction of Cleanrooms, which had such a strong demand that we repeated it, and Cleanroom Monitoring, with a case study - the monitoring system in a pharmaceutical plant - presented by Rhodia Farma (Rhone Poulenc), reporting problems experienced by them and solutions adopted.
SBCC also gave support to a recent two-day seminar on Advanced Cleanroom Operations presented by Mrs. Anne Marie Dixon, sponsored by the Brazilian company CCP Ltd.
The SBCC Technical Committee published its 5th Recommended Practices: Tests in Cleanrooms. The first two SBCC documents on contamination control - Terminology and Cleanliness Classification - are already accepted as Brazilian Standards. The 3rd and 4th Recommended Practices are Airflow Velocity and HEPA/ULPA Filter Installation Leak Tests.
Two months ago, the second group of the Technical Committee was formed, also in São Paulo, with representatives from most of the pharmaceutical industries, for a specific topic: Microbiological Limits for Cleanrooms. At this very moment, a third group is being formed, this time based in Rio de Janeiro, dealing with clean benches, biological safety cabinets and other related devices.
The SBCC Technical Committee has also been involved in a further two activities, the revision of the Brazilian Standard for Air Conditioning in Hospitals and the new Regulatory Document for the Brazilian Ministry of Health. This regulatory document not only includes suggestions for technical matters offered by the SBCC but makes reference to the SBCC Recommended Practices.
We also launched our Contamination Control Magazine in September 1997, now in its 6th Edition, a great improvement after several numbers of a black and white, 4 page newsletters.
We are also pleased to inform that as from October 1998 we can be visited at our Internet site http://clients.tecsat.com.br/sbcc.
Sincerely,
Eliane Salgado Ferreira Bennett
